How do I enable notifications for the Time Tracker?

Last Updated: Sep 06, 2018 10:39PM PDT
Notifications can be enabled for any custom or standard objects of Salesforce. To enable Notifications to be delivered to Time Tracker Users' on their phones, you need to:
  • Set up the Salesforce objects and field changes need to be configured for Notifications
  • Configure the Time Tracker app to send out the Notifications as defined in the step above.
Note: Notifications do not work in the Trial version of Time Tracker. They work only in the Paid version of Mobile Time Tracker

To enable notifications, please make the following changes in your Salesforce org:
  • You must be logged into Salesforce as an Administrator
  • Click on the Settings Tab
  • Click on the Object Manager link
  • Here is an example to set notifications for TT Project Assignments
  • Click on the "TT Project Assignment"
  • Click on the "Fields and Relationship" from Menu list
  • Click on the "Set History Tracking" button, which is available on the top right-hand side of the screen
  • Check the following Checkboxes:
  1.  Assignment Start Date
  2. Assignment End Date
  3. Project Assignment
  4. TT Project
  5. TT User
  • Click on the Save button to save the changes.
Now whenever any of the fields defined above are modified/added, a Notification is sent to the Mobile Time Tracker User's device.

Once you have done the above settings you will be able to enable Notifications for your Org. Here is what you need to do:

Notifications must be enabled for a specific App Key. This App Key should be the one that  Mobile Time Tracker Users use normally to log in the Mobile Time Tracker application.
  • In Salesforce, click the "Mobile Time Tracker" tile, You will be redirected to the Time Tracker Tabs
  • Go to the "TT Apps" Tab
  • Go to the "All" view list from "Recently Viewed" App Key list
  • You see the list of App Key and App Name,
  • Click on the App Name for the App Key for you want to add Notifications
  • The page is redirected to App Edit page, you see "Config" button on the screen for the selected App Key on the right-hand side of the screen at the top
  • You will see a pop-up for making configuration changes, as in the screenshot below. Select the Notification tab on the Configuration pop-up
  • Select notification type, Object name, Function to Trigger and details for Notification Header and Body
There are 2 types of Notifications possible in the Time Tracker.
  1. Enable Poll Notification Integration
  2. Enable Trigger Notification Integration

Enable Poll Notification Integration: Every 8 minutes the app checks for any changes made to projects on the fields which were marked in the "Assignment Field History" and notifies Time Tracker User with a notification. When Time User clicks on the notification from the notifications bar on the device, the Project is synced with the latest changes and is available on the Projects list, Combo List available for Start Job/Travel and is also available on Calendar page (if the calendar is enabled).

Enable Trigger Notification Integration: This is the Notification which notifies Time User immediately once the New Project is created or any changes made on the existing Projects in Salesforce. And the changes are updated in the Projects List, Combo list available for Start Job/Travel and is also available on Calendar page (if the calendar is enabled).

Enable the notification as per your requirement.
Changed Fields: Key in the API names of all the fields on those changes/additions you want your users to be Notified. e.g. based on the selections that we made in the previous step, you would need to add the following API field names in the Changed Fields box:  dftlytime__Assignment_End_Date__c,dftlytime__Assignment_Start_Date__c,created

Now set up the Notification Header and Body. This is the information that your users will actually see on their mobile devices.
  1. Notification Header: A text field that will help the user identify what the Notification is about. In the Project Assignment example that we have used, you could set up the Notification Header to be: "A new project has been assigned to you"
  2. Notification Body: Detailed information about the Notification: "You have new Project Assignments synced from Salesforce"
